When booking on one of our tours, we ask you to accept the following booking terms and conditions:
Please read the following terms and conditions (“Terms”) carefully as all bookings accepted by Slip Away Travel (“SAT”, “we”, “us”) are accepted subject to these Terms. By making a booking you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms. Apart from all the legal stuff, it is recommended that all travellers adopt a sense of adventure, an easy going outlook and the ability to ‘expect the unexpected’. It is the expectation that all travellers will respect fellow passengers and understand the key to an enjoyable tour is you.
A booking request is only accepted by us and confirmed once we issue you or your travel agent with booking confirmation and we receive payment of the required deposit. We reserve
the right to accept or reject any booking request we receive.
A minimum level of health and fitness is required to be able to participate on a Slip Away Travel tour and we reserve the right to decline any booking request in this regard. As a minimum you will need to be able to walk 2km on uneven ground, carry your own luggage, to walk up a few flights of stairs, and to generally be able to participate in the tour without special assistance from us.
We rely on the information you provide on our ‘Fit to Travel’ form completed as part of your booking request and as updated as necessary. You warrant that the information you provide is accurate and there are no other medical issues (both physical/mental) that may impact your ability to participate in the tour without the need for special assistance. Travellers with disabilities are welcome on all SAT tours provided you are accompanied by an able bodied companion and do not require special assistance from SAT personnel. SAT reserves the right to exclude any person from a tour if SAT acting reasonably is of the opinion that the individual requires special assistance for a condition not previously fully disclosed.
If your circumstances change following your completion of the ‘Fit to Travel’ form, then you must notify us as soon as reasonably possible, and in any circumstance prior to travel. We reserve the right to cancel your booking if your changed circumstances mean you will require special assistance from SAT personnel during the tour. We suggest that your travel insurance (which you are obliged to have in place under these Terms) includes comprehensive cancellation coverage.
SAT will not be liable for any damage, injury, death or loss of any kind arising from your failure to disclose relevant medical information.
You may be excluded from any tour at our discretion if you fail to comply with our reasonable instructions whilst on tour, or if we acting reasonably determine that you are interfering with other client’s enjoyment of the tour, or if you require special assistance due to an existing medical condition or disability not disclosed to us. If we exclude you from the tour on this basis, then you acknowledge that you will not be entitled to any refund for any remaining portion of the tour and you will be responsible for all costs associated with your onward travel and repatriation.
If you decide to depart the tour early, you acknowledge that you will not be entitled to any refund for any remaining portion or unused services.
Slip Away Travel specialises in group travel. Whilst we recognise that travellers may wish to add their own pre/post arrangements to our tours, we are happy to assist with an additional handling fee of $150.
International:
25% deposit within 7 days of booking
35% deposit within 120 days prior to departure
Final Payment 90 days prior to departure
Domestic:
25% deposit within 7 days of booking
Final Payment 75 days prior to departure
On occasion and outside of SAT’s control a higher deposit or earlier payment date may be required, which will be communicated to you at the time of any notifications from our suppliers.
Any booking requests made after final payment date will require full payment upon confirmation. A late booking fee of $100 per person will apply. Any booking requests for tours already at capacity, which we are nonetheless able to confirm may be confirmed subject to full payment being made at the time of confirmation.
We accept direct deposit, money order, bank cheque or Visa/Mastercard/AMEX payment. Credit Card Surcharges apply - Visa 1.3%, Mastercard 1.5% and AMEX 2.2% and are non refundable. Slip Away Travel is registered with “AFTA- Australian Federation of Travel Agents”, who have an approved credit card payment gateway called TravelPay who offer the highest level of banking security compliance to protect your card details. It also covers our business (the Agency) & you (the Client) if you pay by Credit Card, in the event of an airline, tour operator, or travel supplier going in to Bankruptcy, Insolvency or Collapse.

Individual payment plans outside our usual payment schedule are welcome with an additional once off $95.00 processing fee.
All tours are subject to minimum numbers. We will advise you no less than 60 days prior to travel if minimum numbers have not been achieved. If a tour falls below the minimum number required for a fully escorted tour, SAT reserves the right, but is not obliged, to operate the tour escorted by a local guide upon arrival to your destination and in this circumstance no reduction in price will be applicable. If SAT cancels a tour due to lack of numbers, you will have the option to receive a full refund or to transfer to alternative tour. If the cost of the alternative tour is less expensive than the original tour then we will refund you the difference, and if the alternative tour is more expensive then you agree to pay the difference. If a tour is cancelled for failure to achieve minimum numbers, then SAT will not be responsible for any costs you incur due to the cancellation (including for the avoidance of doubt the cost of any airfares or travel insurance). You acknowledge that the provisions of this clause are necessary to protect the legitimate business interests of SAT.
All cancellations must be made in writing to Slip Away Travel and will be subject to cancellation charges from the date the written cancellation is received.
CANCELLATION
If you wish to cancel your booking, you must give us notice of the cancellation in writing. You acknowledge that the following cancellation charges will apply:
Cancellation - prior to Final Payment: forfeiture of all payments made at the time of cancellation
Cancellation - after Final Payment: forfeiture of all payments made at the time of cancellation
Regrettably cancellation charges cannot be waived, and you acknowledge that it is a condition of these Terms that you take out adequate comprehensive travel insurance which includes coverage in the event of cancellation by you.
Once SAT issues you with a booking confirmation and you have paid the required deposit, a $100 amendment fee will be payable on each occasion you request changes made to your tour arrangements. While we will endeavour to make amendments, please note that amendments are not always possible. The amendment fee is charged to cover the additional time spent when preparing documentation and when dealing with relevant tour operators.
SAT operates on the basis of fluid pricing. This is the practice within the travel industry where pricing changes due to various factors including, but not limited to changing airfares, currency fluctuations, and availability of product. We reserve the right to change our prices without notice. This can mean that different passengers on the same tour may have been charged different prices.
Prices confirmed at the time of issuance of your booking confirmation are based on exchange rates, cost of services and applicable exchange rates, fuel surcharges, and government taxes, charges and levies. We reserve the right to surcharge the price of your booking for any increase to our costs due to negative currency fluctuations or any increases in taxes, surcharges or levies as mentioned above.
Prices quoted or confirmed do not include costs that are not a compulsory part of the relevant tour and you will be directly responsible for these costs. Such costs may include but not be limited to the following: visas, excess baggage, meals not mentioned, vaccinations, beverages, tips, and costs of a personal nature.
Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of information, SAT takes no responsibility for any itinerary changes we detirmine acting reasonably that are required for the overall enjoyment of the tour, for safety reasons or in situations where changes are required due to matters outside of our control. You acknowledge SAT's right to make amendments in these circumstances. While we will reasonably endeavour to supply comparable arrangements you agree that you will not be entitled to any cost reduction, refund or other compensation in these situations.
If we cancel your travel arrangements prior to travel or during travel for matters outside of our control and which we could not reasonably foresee, then you agree that you will not be entitled to any refund to the extent that we offer alternative travel arrangements that you accept. If we are unable or otherwise do not offer any alternative travel arrangements, you agree that any refund/credit you may be entitled to will be reduced by the value of any costs we have incurred in connection with your booking (both external costs to suppliers and internal costs we have incurred which we can quantify) and which we cannot reasonably recover at the time of cancellation.
It is a condition of booking that you are adequately insured (at your own cost) for the full duration of their tour arrangements in respect of illness, injury, death, loss of baggage and personal items, cancellation and curtailment. SAT will not be responsible for inadequate travel insurance in the event of any insurance claims. You must provide us with the policy number for your insurance policy and the phone number and name of your emergency contact prior to travel.
When travelling alone a great way to keep your costs down and make new friends is to be prepared to share a room with another traveller. We are unable to guarantee that your room mate will be of a similar age group or personality but it can be an enjoyable way to travel and could mean the start of a great friendship. Of course if you prefer a room to yourself the single supplement will apply. If we are unable to find you a room mate the single supplement will apply which you agree to pay. SAT does not warrant that we will be able find you a room-mate and takes no responsibility for any mismatch of passengers. SAT will not be liable for any additional charges incurred for changing room configuration whilst on tour.
You are responsible for all visa, passport, immigration, quarantine, customs, health and other requirements of the countries visited or transited. If travelling on an Australian passport you will need at least 6 months validity on your passport taken from the date of re-entry into Australia. If you are travelling under any other passport please advise at the time of booking. Slip Away Travel will not be held responsible for any incorrect re-entry visas for non- Australian passport holders. SAT is happy to offer assistance with visas (additional charges may apply). Please note that passport and visa requirements are the responsibility of you the traveller and SAT takes no responsibility for failure to comply with the provided advice.
When booking on any tour, it is imperative that you provide SAT with your full correct name as per your passport and a copy of your passport for international tours and photo identification for domestic tours. SAT will not be held liable for any expenses incurred for incorrect names advised.
Official travel advice issued by Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is available by contacting 1300 444135 or visiting their website www.dfat.gov.au. We recommend that you review this information both prior to making your booking and prior to departure.
SAT, its employees and agents act only as agent for the suppliers of the travel arrangements. Subject to these Terms, to the fullest extent permitted by law SAT disclaims responsibility and exclude liability for injury, death, damage, loss or claims arising directly or indirectly from acts or omissions by suppliers or from accidents, loss or damage to person or property, delays, changes in schedules, transport failures, strikes, wars, uprisings, acts of God or other causes over which SAT, its employees and agents have no control. Australian Consumer Law and corresponding legislation in other jurisdictions in certain circumstances imply mandatory conditions and warranties into agreements (“Consumer Warranties”). This clause does not exclude or limit the application of any Consumer Warranties or other warranties where to do so would contravene the law of the relevant jurisdiction or cause any part of this clause to be void. Other than the Consumer Warranties, you hereby waive and SAT hereby disclaims all warranties whether written or oral, express or implied. The liability of SAT is to the fullest extent permitted by law limited to arranging for the travel arrangements to be provided again or payment of the cost of having the travel arrangements resupplied, the choice of which is at the option of SAT.
These Terms represent the entire agreement between the client and Slip Away Travel. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or in any way unenforceable, it shall be severed from these Terms and the remaining provisions shall not in any way be affected or impaired and these Terms shall be construed so as to most nearly give effect to the parties intentions at the time when SAT confirmed its acceptance of the relevant booking. All matters in respect of or arising under these Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria and the courts of Victoria shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to determine all claims arising in respect of or arising under these Terms.
